Philly Tech Week 2020

The 10th annual Philly Tech Week Presented by Comcast has been reimagined - and will now be ALL VIRTUAL. We will celebrate throughout 2020, with virtual events running from May to the end of September. Our celebration will be capped with the PTW tradition of a week of events, which includes a curated calendar of community events and Technical.ly led pillar events. These fully online events will be held September 21st-25th.

Philly Tech Week is a week-long celebration that showcases technology and innovation happening throughout the Greater Philadelphia region.

Tracks

Philly Tech Week is organized into 7 different tracks: Software, Startup, Gaming, Medtech, Professional Development, Impact, and Arts. Search for events that match your interests by clicking on the track icons.

Cerron Cade

Cerron was confirmed as the Secretary of Labor on January 24, 2018 where he leads state efforts to connect Delaware businesses with talented workers, and develop relevant workforce development and training programs.

Prior to that he was Acting Director of the Delaware Economic Development Office (DEDO), Cerron managed the dissolution of DEDO and the creation of the new Division of Small Business, Development, and Tourism within the Delaware Department of State. He served as the Division’s Director, leading a team responsible for providing key services to Delaware businesses, administration of the Delaware Strategic Fund, and marketing Delaware as a premier tourist destination.

During his time at DEDO and the newly-created division, Cerron had led the state’s efforts to attract businesses and good-paying jobs to Delaware, keep them here, and ensure that Delaware remains a leading state for businesses to grow and thrive.

Cerron grew up in Washington D.C. and moved to Delaware to study Political Science and Law Studies at Delaware State University. Driven by a desire to make a positive impact and following his passion for public service,

Cerron has worked as a Legislative Aide for the Delaware State House of Representatives, New Castle County Deputy Director for U.S. Senator Tom Carper and State Projects Director for then-Congressman John Carney, and Legislative Liaison for Governor Jack Markell.

Cade lives in Wilmington with his wife, Kasmira, and two daughters, Jonnie and Toni.

Ethan Lyon

Ethan is the Data Engineer at Seer Interactive — finding new ways of automating and leveraging machine learning to move Seer into the future of digital marketing.

Some fun projects include changing PPC ad sentiment to increase click-through-rate and identifying low quality sites on paid placements to save clients money.

Previously, he was an SEO Team Lead, where he focused on providing team members with guidance on strategy and tactical implementation.

His passion lies in using the newest, latest tools to automate process and create net new business opportunities for clients.

Outside of work he loves cooking, biking, yoga, climbing, fine cocktails and Taco Tuesday.

Nick Maillet

Nick joined Seer in February 2019 as a Data Analyst within the Data Strategy division. He graduated from Colgate University in 2014 with an Economics degree and spent 3 years in NYC working in FinTech before moving back home to the Philadelphia area.

When he’s not at work, you can find Nick exploring a new local bar with friends, playing intramural sports, taking advantage of the unlimited PTO policy, or passionately rooting for one of the Philly sports teams.

Veniece Newton

Veniece Newton, is a true entrepreneur of today who has been connecting people and products through her relationship building for more than a decade. In her early years, while working in promotions and marketing in the music industry for Arista Records in NYC she learned the importance of people and how they connect the dots. Eventually, she developed an entrepreneurial spirit that could not be denied. Her innovative and unparalleled ability to harness the power of relationship building has given her tremendous respect in the business community. Always ahead of the curve, 15 years ago she founded an online fashion/lifestyle television in which she oversaw a production team of 30 from Hong Kong, Alaska, Los Angeles, Miami and New York City. ENGAGEathon is a customizable software platform that tracks and promotes community engagement, outreach and social impact which will be used by corporations, school districts and organizations. Veniece has a mission to bring our communities together in a positive and effective way; and she will not stop until her mission is complete. Her latest project, Cypher City is a nationwide livestreaming cypher competition in which the public votes through all social media platforms. Cypher City is a very exciting because it allows Veniece to acknowledge the importance of diversity & inclusion and provides a platform for aspiring lyricists to express themselves through words. Veniece is a woman of today and an inspiration for many to believe in yourself and have hope for all.

Lisha Davis

Lisha Davis is the former founder and head of Vanguard's Innovation Studio, located in center city Philadelphia. In that role, Lisha led the strategy, operations, and the ongoing delivery of an innovation portfolio focused on future and growth oriented ventures that could transform Vanguard's business or potentially disrupt the financial services industry. Today Lisha is an investor with 37Angels focused on increasing representation of diverse founders and funders, a venture partner @ VU Venture Partners, an early growth stage fund based in SF & NYC, and serves as mentor and advisor to startups across the consumer and fintech sectors. She is also an adjunct professor @ Temple's Fox School of Business, teaching open innovation & strategic partnerships. Lisha currently lives in NYC and travels often in pursuit of new adventures.

Lisa Devieux

Lisa is Seer’s Data Strategy Lead based in Philadelphia. She harnessed a passion for data and her tenure within digital marketing and business operations to focus on pushing Seer forward in utilizing data-driven strategies. Her favorite thing to do is dig deep into data to help clients solve complex business questions. Her second favorite thing to do is convince Wil of the virtues of bridge tables & ngrams.

Before Seer, Lisa worked in roles across the board in digital marketing and software with positions at TIG Global, MICROS Systems, and Oracle. Recently hitting ten years in the industry, Lisa started her career in PPC before branching into SEO, product management, program management, R&D, and finally Data Strategy. She has experience with clients at all levels and across most major industries. In her role as Data Strategy Lead, Lisa gets to touch a ton of Seer’s clients in one way or another, which is one reason she loves what she does.

Lisa is a graduate of the University of Delaware. In her free time, she enjoys eating at every new restaurant in the city and doing all things outdoors with her husband Bernard, kids George and Annie, and their too-energetic pup Deacon.
